1. Introduction

At Qiis, we believe that privacy is a right. We want to empower our users to be the masters of their identity.

This Privacy Policy explains how and why Qiis collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our websites, mobile apps, widgets, APIs, emails, and other online products and services, or when you otherwise interact with us or receive a communication from us.

We want this privacy policy to empower you to make better choices about how you use Qiis.

  • Qiis is a public platform. Our communities are largely public and anyone can see your profile, posts, and comments.
  • We collect minimal information that can be used to identify you by default. If you want to browse, you do not need an account.
  • Any data we collect is used primarily to provide our Services and make Qiis a better place. We do not sell your personal data to third parties, including data brokers.
  • Privacy rights are for everyone. Anyone can request a copy of their data, account deletion, or information about our policies.
  • If you have questions about how we use data, email [email protected].

2. Qiis Is a Public Platform

Much of the information on the Services is public and accessible to everyone, even without an account.

When you submit content to a public part of the Services, visitors and users can see that content, the username associated with that content, and the date and time you originally submitted it. That content and information may also be available in search results on internet search engines or in responses provided by AI chatbots.

Your Qiis account has a public profile page. Your profile may contain information about your activities on the Services, such as your username, prior posts and comments, karma, trophies and achievement badges, profile display name, about section, social links, avatar or profile image, moderator, contributor, Qiis Premium status, communities you are active in, and how long you have been a member.

We offer social sharing features that let you share content or actions you take on our Services with other media. Your use of these features enables sharing with your friends or the public, depending on the settings you establish with the third party that provides the feature.

Qiis allows moderators and other third parties to access public content and information using moderator bots, tools, Qiis Embeds, APIs, Developer Platform, and similar technologies.

3. What Information We Collect

We collect information you provide to us directly when you use the Services.

You do not need an account to use Qiis. If you create a Qiis account, your account will have a public username. Depending on how you register, you may need to provide a password, email address, Single Sign-On details, or phone number.

When you use Qiis, you may provide other information, such as a bio, gender, birthday, location, language, profile picture, or social link. You can remove or revise this information at any time.

Public content you submit includes public posts, comments, chat messages, usernames, profile information, related metadata, and may include text, links, images, gifs, audio, videos, software, and tools.

Non-public content you submit includes saved drafts, non-public messages, reports, communications with moderators and with us, forms, surveys, support requests, and other communications.

We collect information about actions you take when using the Services, including voting, saving, hiding, reporting, following, blocking, subscriptions, and moderator status.

If you purchase products or services from us or through the Services, you will provide payment information to industry-standard payment processors such as Stripe. We collect information about the product or service purchased, including purchase dates, amounts, expiration dates, and renewal dates.

  • Approximate location information based on log data, plus location information you choose to share through the Services.
  • Public content related to you, inferred information such as age range, gender, or preferred language, and information from other users or third parties.
  • Information from linked services and integrations, including third-party identity providers, unofficial clients, Qiis Embeds, and advertising technology.
Except for the IP address used to create your account, Qiis will delete any IP addresses collected after 100 days.

5. Information Collected if You Use Certain Qiis Offerings

If you sign up for Qiis Pro on behalf of yourself, your business, or your organization, we may collect additional information from you, including profile type, name, industry category, website, and organization size.

If you request certain limited Qiis Pro features, we may request additional documentation to verify your identity.

If you sign up to participate in a Qiis Program, such as our Contributor Program, we collect additional information directly or indirectly through providers, such as your name, date of birth, address, email, tax, government ID, and payment information.

This additional information is used and shared with third-party payment and compliance providers to determine eligibility, facilitate payments, and comply with law.

6. Information Collected by Third Parties

Qiis displays some linked content in-line on the Services via embeds. In general, Qiis does not control how third-party services collect data when they serve their content directly through these embeds.

Embedded content is not covered by this Privacy Policy, but by the policies of the service from which the content is embedded.

We partner with service providers that perform audience measurement to learn demographic information about the population that uses Qiis. These companies may collect cookie information to recognize your device.

7. How We Use Your Information

We use information about you to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
  • Provide personalized, age-appropriate services, content, and features.

Service providers may include payment processors, cloud providers, ad serving and measurement providers, age verification providers, and compliance providers.

9. How We Protect Your Information

We take measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

We use HTTPS while information is being transmitted and enforce technical and administrative access controls to limit which employees have access to non-public personal information.

We store the information we collect for as long as necessary for the purposes for which we originally collected it. We may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes or where required by applicable law.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have choices about how to protect and limit the collection, use, and sharing of information about you when you use the Services.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to correct or rectify your personal information, opt out of certain advertising practices, or withdraw consent where you previously provided it.

You may delete your account at any time from the settings page in your account. When you delete your account, your profile is no longer visible to other users and is disassociated from content you posted under that account.

Posts, comments, and messages submitted before deleting your account may still be visible to others unless you first delete the specific content.

  • Review and revoke linked services from your account settings.
