When you arrive, you take a bowl and tongs and choose your own ingredients. When you get to the counter, they weigh your bowl and you select a soup base and pay. There are a few things that you can order off the menu too - various skewers and spring onion pancake etc. - but it's mostly about the hot pot (and that's what my daughter goes for - she loves being able to pick her own ingredients and had even tried a few new foods while there). It's not licensed but there's a fridge with soft drinks and some Asian-style drinks.
I enjoy it because my kids eats a lot more veggies there than she would at home, and because I can do my own thing and get a spicy soup. It's cheap and cheerful and popular with the local uni students.
