Haha... Not for a dinosaur like me though. For me, as long as I have the HTV box, I will live and be happy.
HTV is an Android TV set top box. You can find it on eBay (search HTV box) or buy online from htvboxstore.com. It costs around AUD$300. The box will work for 3 years.
Installation is easy. Just get a HDMI cable and plug it into the TV. Connect to Wifi and installation is done.
For those who don't know what is an Android TV set top box, check out the screen shots.
It has all sorts of shows (Chinese dramas, Korean/Japanese dramas, Series from USA, movies from everywhere).
Why I love HTV ? When it comes to movies, it typically will have the latest blockbusters from Hollywood within a certain time frame. We don't hard need to go to movie theatre anymore.
It has a wide collection of dramas. Wider than Netflix/Amazon on their own. In my case, I love Korean dramas. HTV has Korean dramas from everywhere (local channels like SBS/JTBC + Netflix + TVing). Latest episodes are typically updated weekly.
All the shows/movies are subtitled in Chinese. HTV has a Brazil version. So I would imagine it has subtitles in Spainish. One thing I am not sure is if it has subtitles in English.
Another feature that is cool is it streams live TV channels from everywhere as well, including HK TVs.
Now the important bit... We have been using Android TV box for years. We had TVPad which stopped working. After TVPad, we switched to HTV, it has been working ever since.
A new HTV set top box will work for 3 years. Then can renew the subscription. Subscription renewal in 2025 was around US$56-60. Get in touch with HTV via WeChat (ID: HTVWorld). Pay via Paypal. Attached a screenshot of payment. Then HTV customer service will give you a code. Enter into the box and done.
To be honest, I don't mind paying for the subscription. With the subscription, I know HTV will keep going and won't just drop dead like TVPad. Still cheaper than Netflix plus I am getting way more shows than Netflix. It is almost like Sauron - the one box that rules them all (if you know the reference :))
