Which leads me to this newsletter. I have "known" the author (Nicolas Baratte) for years. Correction. I have been reading his research for years. I have met him a few times in the past 15 years. But he probably doesn't know me.
The author Nic has been covering technology stocks in Asia for a very long time. I first started reading his research when he was the Head of Global Tech Research at CLSA HK in 2011. After CLSA, he covered technology/semiconductor stocks for Macquarie in Taiwan.
In my mind, he was consistently one of the best semiconductor sell side analysts in Asia. He has a lot of contacts in the technology supply chain. A walking encyclopedia on technology. He has all the numbers in his head and can quantify BoM on just about everything.
After he left Macquarie some time ago, I stumbled upon his newsletter on Substack.
Unlike Fred Hickey (who publishes monthly), Nic publishes his newsletter when he has an interesting topic i.e. he is more timely. His latest newsletter commented on Nvidia's result the day after its earnings call. His newsletter regularly covers the latest semiconductor earnings, plus his general tech stock/market commentaries. Informative and timely.
So far, I am only reading the free version of his newsletter. Almost like reading his former sell side research reports. Internet is wonderful isn't it ? Institutional grade insights available to everyone.
Considering the market is heavily driven by the AI narrative these days, the Techstock01 is a tremendous/timely resource for any investor.
Worth checking it out and better yet subscribe to his news letter :)
