Because the showers were not in use for some years, the screens/panels were stuck. The little "rubber wheels" were "gunked" up.
We had a handyman/carpenter to try to fix it. He found the job too hard and dismantled the panels instead and told us they could not be fixed. We ended up having different panels lying around in pieces (see pic 4).
We thought maybe we should replace the shower screens instead. Quotes came back quite scary actually.
We started looking for someone to repair the shower screens instead. Other repairers tried to convince us to replace the shower screens and up selling. We had quotes that added up to as much as $8-900 despite the glass panels were intact but the spare parts (like the wheels") were stuck. The job was more like a re-assemble job so to speak.
Eventually, we found Ian's website. Ian was quite detailed. Before he finalized the quote, he got us to send him picture of each panel and make sure he had the necessary parts. His quote came to $500 for fixing the three shower screens. Much better than the other 3 repair quotes we got.
I had to be at work that day.. So it was my brother who checked in on Ian when he was fixing the shower screens. Ian did a very good job fixing and putting back the shower screens. In my brother's words, the shower screens are now sliding through butter.
If you have old shower screens that need fixing, keep Ian in mind. He is a fair and experienced tradesman who knows what he is doing.
