St Declan’s Catholic Primary School

As a parent I didn’t realise how hard it would be making a decision for what preschool, school, highschool and what would be best suited for our children.

We knew we wanted to enrol our children into the Catholic School System so they could follow in the footsteps of other family members.

We jumped the gun knowing we wanted the children to go to Marist Catholic College Penshurst because it would accommodate both our boy and girl.

The next step was to look at what Catholic feeder school options we had to give us the best chance of getting into our preferred highschool.

We ended up getting into St Declan’s Catholic Primary School in Penshurst and are so fortunate it has been such a great experience for us.

When we began at the school is was a cozy two stream school but it is now almost at completion to turn into a three stream school, this in itself speaks for the schools reputation and the need to create extra space as it is highly in demand to get into.

The school is located in a great area and close to public transport and for the future we know we will be able to juggle the Highschool and Primary School drop off and picks up as both schools are within close vicinity or offer bus services for the kids to be transported to the campus they need to be at.

A standout for us with St Declan’s is the strong involvement from parents and the community and seeing them all come together for special occasions, sporting events, excursions and fundraisers.

You will never feel like you are missing out even if you can’t be at an event because you can always count on another parent getting a quick picture of that special moment. You can always count on someone you know keeping a watchful eye even at the school pickup and this just confirms how safe and secure I feel in this environment and leaving my children here every single day.

Our son has needed extra help within the classroom and we have been kept in the loop by the teachers from day one of their concerns.

They have helped us with finding the right support and will happily communicate with therapists or extra support teams that are needed so everyone is sitting on the same page.

We are constantly liaising with school via email or meetings to provide the best learning experience for our child.

As with any private school the fees can be pricey but the payment plans help make this achievable. The starting cost for one child is $2825 and does increase as the years go on.

The fees include the costs of excursions, building levy’s etc

The school also has are second hand uniform shop on premises that is parent run, this is also a game changer to help save costs on uniforms because it can get expensive when you are buying multiple uniforms for more then one child.

I hope this little bit of information helps answer some questions about this great school in the

St George Area.

As we near our end time at St Declan’s I can confidently say that our experience here has been one I will always share with pride.

The found family we have made will be with us far beyond the primary years.

Is this a good recommendation?
