In my prior life, I was a partner in a hedge fund.
We had investment managers insurance through Abe from CIG.
The background story was we had similar insurance policy from another broker. Our old policy was underwritten by Chubb. It was a similar story with other brokers I would imagine. Once we "picked" our first policy, renewal became automatic. Premium increased every year as a matter of fact.
I started looking around after the premium became nutty one year. Just random internet search and found Abe and another 2 or 3 brokers. Eventually, we went with the policy from Abe.
Abe was helpful throughout the process and the back and forth. Straight forward to deal with. Our "new" policy was underwritten by Liberty Specialty Markets. Not as well known as Chubb for non-insurance folks like us. Abe walked us through the details of the policy and explained the features and differences. At the end of the day, our "new" policy was 20-30% cheaper with similar coverage than before.
We went through 2 renewals with Abe. We actually asked him to compare quotes from other underwriters as well.
After we closed the fund, Abe tried to cross sell us the "run off" insurance to protect us from future liability. He is a true professional :)
It was a pleasure working with Abe. If you have business insurance needs, worth having a chat with Abe and see if he can beat your existing policy.
