Tomiko Japanese Steak House

If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s about so much more than just the food, Tomiko Japanese Steak House is an absolute must-try.

We visited in February 2026 for a birthday celebration and the experience was something else. If you’re booking, do yourself a favour and reserve a seat at the teppanyaki table. It’s the only way to get the full experience and trust me, it’s worth it.

Our chef was incredible. He had the entire table laughing from the moment we sat down. Between the jokes, singing, dancing and constant banter, it felt like we were watching a live performance as much as enjoying dinner. The energy never dropped for a second.

Watching him cook right in front of us was fascinating. He performed tricks with the eggs, showed incredible knife skills while preparing the steak and somehow turned frying rice and making sauces into entertainment. One of the highlights was when he wrote “Happy Birthday” on the teppanyaki plate using flour, backwards must I add, which was seriously impressive.

The food itself was fantastic. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly and packed with flavour. The steak was tender, the fried rice was delicious and every dish arrived straight from the hotplate to our plates.

Tomiko delivers the perfect combination of great food and an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re celebrating a birthday, special occasion or simply looking for a fun night out, this place should be high on your list. One of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Glenelg.
