There are two proper ramen places in Neutral Bay - Toriichi and Manpuku. They are literally across the road from each other.
Obviously, Manpuku is well known. As a matter of fact, I think its soup/broth is great. In fact, tastier than Toriichi. The catch is it is more expensive. Its different ramens range between $19-25 (roughly).
Instead, we typically prefer Toriichi over Manpuku. Key reason is value for money. Ramen to ramen, Toriichi is a few $ cheaper.
We went yesterday (Jun 26). Its pork ramens cost between $18-21. Its chicken ramen cost between $15-19 (under its current summer special promotion.. must be quite a long summer :)). We have tried pretty much all ramens on the menu there already. Tasty soup. It has its distinct style. The different soup won't make you go wow like Gumshara but they are good soup and hearty in winter. The eggs have got better over the years (soft golden yoke before was hit and miss). Quantity is always aplenty. Two slices of pork. Lots of garnish/spring onions. Seaweeds (I think).
Another stand out is (see pic4) is the "extras". It only charges $1 for extra noodle. I also typically would order the Karaage chicken add on per ramen ($5 for 3 pieces)... The karaage chicken is always freshly fried/piping hot/crunchy. Another word yummy. Pic 5 is the chicken. I forgot to take the pic early so only one piece left. In our most recent visit, my ramen with extra noodle + 3 karaage chicken pieces cost $20.
Toriichi also has an extensive menu e.g. the typical Japanese bento box.. Main + rice + salad + few slices of salmon... Around $25 if I remember correctly. Not bad vs. Sushi Samurai across the road. Although I must say its salmon sashimi is nothing too special to write home about.
Staff is friendly.
Ambience is a nice cozy little place.
Parking is easy. There is a council + Coles car park just round the corner.
Toriichi is a little gem that few people know. A great value for money ramen place in Neutral Bay. It serves what I would call good honest food. Worth checking it out when in the neighborhood.

We went to Toriichi again. $71 for 4 ppl. Value is hard to beat. Also the chicken ramen remains $15-16 (for the base) before adding extras like extra noodle and karaage chicken.

Went there again a week after... 4 ppl... 4 ramens (3 with extra noodles) + 2 karaage chicken add-ons + a salad for $78.... Very good value. This time I remember to take proper pics of the karaage chicken. I did not tuck into it immediately :)
