K drama (rom com) to watch - Filing for Love

I am biased. I really like Shin Hae-Sun. With that disclosure, it is understandable why I would recommend Filing for Love.

Objectively, it ticks the boxes. I stayed up until 2-3am to finish more episodes. Its rating on Asianwiki is 92 (over the 90 watermark). Its domestic rating increased from 4% to 9%.

It has the plotline of a classic office romantic comedy. SHS was the tough iron lady of the internal audit department. Behind the tough facade, she was actually someone with a difficult past and a heroine in the background. Over time, the male (Gong Myung) lead began falling for her. Went through the usual ups and downs. Threw in the must have claw machine scene these days too.

I was touched by how SHS and GM were prepared to sacrifice him/herself for the other person during an official investigation. Sometimes, I wonder if people will do the same in real life. Guess this is one reason why I like K-drama. Sometimes, the plot/director looks to showcase the idealistic side of being human.

There was another arc with Filing. SHS had a past relationship with the vice chairman. Again, there was something idealistic and sad about the portrayal of the vice chairman. Guess I am trying to say it wasn't trying to be a brainless and happy rom com.

One missing bit for me was it would be good to have a scene with SHS spending time with the extended family of GM. SHS had a tough childhood... Wouldn't it be good to portray her being accepted fully into her new family and love by everyone....

The series was enjoyable. And yes... The ending was happy.

By the way, other K-dramas with SHS worth watching are Mr Queen (really funny), Angel's Last Mission: Love (more heavy going rom-com between an angel and a mortal), Welcome to Samdal-ri (a nice and fluffy rom-com).
