This is a niche recommendation. In mom's place, I regularly mowed the lawn but not much beyond that. Eventually, the lawn started to deteriorate and looked scrappy. Eventually, the weed god won.
About 9 years ago, we needed someone to do big garden clean up at mom's place. We found Michael from ProLawn to help. It was a big clean up job after the garden was overgrown. And we found out he also helped people to maintain the lawn.
We got Michael/ProLawn to maintain our lawn for the last few years. Our grass is buffalo. These days, the lawn is thick and green. We used to have fair bits of weeds but no more. Whatever Michael is doing works.
He comes around 5-6 times a year. He would drop by in this big truck with a tank in the back with a long hose. Each visit is quite quick. Mostly he would drop by and start spraying the weeds. Depends on the time of the year, he would also fertilize. After every visit, he would leave a brief report with the different weeds spotted/treated. We don't have to be around when he visits.
I had a chat with him recently. Found out he is semi retired. He no longer does heavy garden clean up but still running his lawn maintenance business. Quite a nice guy to have a chat actually.
He charges by the size of the garden. The official rate is $595 for a typical size lawn. It is one hundred dollars lower if the garden is smaller. For the subscription, he would drop by 5-6 times a year. If pay upfront in cash, he is happy to negotiate.
Is it good value ? My response is it works. If your lawn is tired (or overrun with weeds) and you want to rejuvenate it, it is worth getting in touch. Plus laying a new lawn is going to cost much more. Michael is one way to outsource another home maintenance worry away.
