We have neglected the swimming pool for a long time (over 10 years). We let plants grew around the edges. Roots grew and expanded around the front of the pool. A line crack above the water line (around 2M) developed.
Initially, we contacted different pool repair companies. Then we got to realize they were super busy and had projects lined up for the next few months. We reached out to different pool companies in early Jan. One of them could only get to us in April/May even if we gave them the go ahead. Eventually, we got quotes from 2 companies. Another company ghosted us despite us chasing.
The two quotes were between $25-30K. Essentially, they told us the crack was extensive and to repair the crack, they would need to tile all around the pool above the water line plus re-work/re-tile all the copings/bricks all around the pool. In hindsight, my take was they were so busy that they would only take on big projects. Or make small projects big to worth their time.
Luckily, we found Daniel. When Daniel dropped by to have a look, he examined the crack (which the other 2 pool repair guys didn't do). Worked out it was about the top layer/laminate being lose. The crack can be fixed locally without having to fix all around the pool. In addition, we also got him to quote on remedying the brick work on the other sides of the pool, and re-pointing the copings all around.
The quote came to $6000. And he got a friend to help with the pebblecrete as it was not his trade.
Daniel did a very good job. He re-did the brick work in the area. Fixed the crack. The pebblecrete finish was great and blended in perfectly.
Daniel is a bear of a man. He is an Aussie. He cracks a few jokes. Always good for a chat. An all round good bloke. He cares about his work and finish.
