I was looking for a Korean BBQ and came across Unlimited Korean BBQ in Eastwood.
Of course, I was struck by the price ($30 per person), Thought I should check it out.
We went on a week day around 1:30. The place was still reasonably full. The buffet was for 90 mins.
Let's be upfront about it. For the price point, you cannot compare it to say Butchers or Chefs Buffet.
Being a K BBQ, have to talk about the meat. The meat "counter" had 8-10 kinds of meat - different cuts of pork, beef, chicken. Marinated or spicy.
The hot food bar has 5 or 6 different choices from KFC to tteokbokki, seaweed roll, and kimchi pan cake, and rice.
Salad bar has the standard lettuce, kimchi, onion, spring onion, picked raddish, garlic etc etc.
Drinks were not included. I did not see any desert bar when I was there.
Clearly, in terms of variety, it is not as good as other places.
BUT what I like about the place was it was good at what it does. Keep in mind, we went there quite late during lunch time. The food at the counters were constantly replenished. The meat counter was enclosed and cold. I really don't like places where they just put the meat out in the open.
The meat tasted good. The pork cuts were thick. The spicy marinated chicken was tasty. The salad/lettuce leaves were in good "shape" (i.e. not the shrivel sort). The lettuce was crunchy and well washed. The hot food/fried stuffs were solid.
Service level was good. When we were there, they changed the BBQ hot plate 3-4 times.
Ambience was OK. The place was well kept. Staff were friendly.
The bottom line is, for the price, it is a good deal in Sydney. It adapts to its price point, holds itself to a good standard, and offers a good experience to diners. If you have hungry kids who crave meat, Unlimited K BBQ is worth checking out.
