Best sport anime ever ? - Haikyu

Is Haikyu the best sport anime ever ?

I first started watching Haikyu (anime) when it first came out in 2014. 12 yeas later, I found myself still watching Haikyu.

Why ? Ha... Our daughter is still re-watching it again and again and again. I think this is roughly her 5th time re-watching it from start to finish.

Our kids are crazy about Haikyu. So much so that we got the entire set of manga as well.

For those who are not into anime, Haikyu is about Hinata, a high school student who is crazy about volleyball, despite being somewhat short. He met his ally/rival (Kageyama) in Yr 1 of senior high school at Karasuno High School. Karasuno was a former powerhouse school but struggled in recent years. Hinata and Kageyama, along with the senpais fought to take the school back to the national competition.

I love Haikyu because it was about Hinata, an underdog given his height, and his love for the game. The anime followed the growth of Hinata through every match and set back. The way the anime drew out the back story behind each team member. Not to mention, the distinct personalities of each key competing team.

And it was fascinating to learn about the finer details of volley ball.

The anime has a positive "vibe" through the whole series. Everyone in the team worked to lift each other.

It is safe to watch with the kids, unlike series like Food Wars.

If you are not a anime fan, give Haikyu a go. In my mind, Haikyu may be the best sport anime ever, if not the best anime ever.

It is available on Netflix.
