We went to Daniel Hotpot (大牛老火锅鲜切) to celebrate. It was a rock solid hotpot experience. Comparable to Fresh Beef Hotpot 鲜潮汕牛肉 hotpot down the road.
Key difference was Daniel was all you can eat and Fresh Beef Hotpot was a la carte.
The set up was the usual pick the broth and mix your own sauce.
Daniel Hotpot was also about the different cuts of meat available. Must say, being a buffet, it was an enjoyable experience chewing into a mountain of thick cuts of beef/lamb/pork. Also there were different marinades of chicken/lamb.
Plus it has a wide selection of other proteins e.g. chicken giblets, fish, prawns, eggs, squid/octopus, even little lobsters. Naturally, there were plenty of meatballs, and other stuffs such as 滑虾 and 午餐肉.
In summary, it was a good feed. Plenty of interesting flavors and proteins you would not find elsewhere to choose from.
The protein counter was well refrigerated.
Also soft drinks were included. It was liberating to be able to go to the drink fridge and pick up different drinks "freely". I had 4 cans of soft drinks ha....
It also had a Chinese desert bar, with grass jelly, different toppings like jelly.
Service level was good. Empty plates were cleared quickly.
One thing to watch out is it does charge $20 for the soup. Per person was $50 each + soup.
If pay in cash, 5% discount.
Now ranking Daniel relative to other hotpot experience.... A reasonable a la carte hotpot meal in Sydney would be $50-70 per head in most places in my experience.
So the price of $50/person (being a buffet) + soup (with unlimited soft drink) is actually not bad value at all. Worth checking out.
