Yesterday (Sept 26), I FINALLY finished the anime (My Hero Academia).
Season 1 was first aired in 2016. Season 8 was only concluded in Dec 2025.
Imagine a world where some people are born with special power - a "quirk". Folks with quirk become heroes - just like Superman but they get paid. The main character (Midoriya) was born with no such "quirk". Yet, after a chance encounter with All Might (the No.1 Hero in Japan), he was given All Might's quirk (One for All). Midoriya later enrolled in Class 1A at the Hero Academy. The series was about Midoriya and his class mates battled the main villain - All for One.
It was a typical a-Geek-who-becomes-a-Superhero story. My Hero Academia was an uplifting story. The class mates supported each other. Midoriya also reconciled with the bully in his childhood. There was also this arc of the now-quirkless All Might taking Midoriya under his wing.
The My Hero Academia anime is entertaining/action packed. In my view, in time, it will be seen as one of the classics.
The anime was produced by Bones (an anime studio). Despite its age, the quality of the anime is very well done/modern. The anime is also family friendly. It doesn't have the usual fan service elements.
In Australia, Season 1-7 is available on Netflix. Season 8 is only available on Crunchyroll.
Alternatively, a free streaming version of season 8 (with Chinese subtitles) can also be found here... This is a handy Chinese streaming site as it doesn't require the usual cumbersome registration steps + no ads + no download of any app/file:
