A yakitori place worth a visit - Fujitori in Neutral Bay

Went to Fujitori over the wkend. It was full at 6:45 on Satuday. Lucky, we made a reservation. Overall, it is different. Worth a visit if you haven't been.

First thing first. It is differentiated. It is the only yakitori restaurant in Sydney that is all you can eat. Price was OK. Two price points - $68 (standard) and $88 (premium includes sashimi + luxury hand rolls). Saturday and Sunday add 10%.

We picked the standard menu ($68). Menu was extensive. Yakitori + sushi + fried stuffs + appetizer + desert. Personally, think the standard menu is good enough unless you really crave sashimi (but the nigiris were not bad already).

I was impressed by the varieties on offer. The yakitori selection has the standard varieties of chicken + beef + pork + vegetables. Noticeably, it also had prawn, eel, scallop, and sardine. The yakitoris were rock solid/tasty. Most skewers came to the table hot and fresh. Although, one or two items (chicken wings for me) were over salted. I really liked the beef tongue + eel skewer.

Sushi selection was extensive (from nigiri + aburi + gunkan + roll). We had rounds of sushi. I especially liked the scallop nigiris.

The fried stuffs were hot and crunchy. One menu item you don't see often elsewhere was fried oysters. Tasted like oysters too.

Yeah. Almost forgot to mention the deserts. Make sure you save room for them. Each of us had multiple deserts. Its ice cream flavors were matcha, black sesame, yuzu sorbet. Also make sure to try the mango/peach daifuku.

Online some people complained about missing orders. I can see why because it was really easy to order a lot of items on the menu. In our case, it took some time for food to arrive but keep in mind it was almost peak dining time on a Saturday night when we were there. So not too bad over all.

Dining time limit was 90 mins. Last order at 70 mins. Soon after they brought us the bill without us asking. One trick to share is, after getting the bill, don't pay straight away. Instead, ask them to hurry up with the remaining orders. The missing orders came very fast soon after. Guess they were keen to see us out the door ha...

Overall, Fujitori is a differentiated place in Neutral Bay/Sydney. Varieties were extensive. Better than my expectation actually. Food quality were not bad actually. Service level (or speed) was good enough. Worth a visit if you are looking for an AYCE in Sydney.
