We typically go there once a week on weekend at night. The mystery for me is it is never super busy unlike some other places in Burwood.
Getting there is easy. Plenty of parking in Emerald City or Westfield. We prefer to park on one of the side streets and walk there (5 mins). By train, just turn right when you leave the station and walk in the direction of Hungry Jack. It is diagonally across from Hungry Jack.
Ambience is OK. Like a busy 茶餐厅 place for normal family.
We have two "rotations" at Macau Kitchen so to speak. Steamed fish and dishes one weekend. And then fujian fried rice, noodles and vegetable one wkend.
Prices are more than reasonable and tasty. The steamed fish is around $45 (but good size). And the dishes are big. Order the 椒鹽豬扒 for under $20 ($19.8 to be precise) and see for yourself. Literally a mountain of 豬扒 (pork).I have not seen a dish of this size elsewhere in Sydney. Also check out the 福建炒飯. If you ask me, it has the best 福建炒飯 in Sydney. Or I have not had better elsewhere in Sydney so far. Please let me know if you have other 福建炒飯 recommendations ?
A tip is don't bother ordering congee at night. Either they won't take the order or take too long because it has to wait in the queue vs. steamed fish apparently.
It is not a fancy pant Chinese restaurant but the food is consistently yummy and great value for money.

First time we went back to Macau Kitchen in like 2 months. The place was packed last night around 6:30. Had to wait like half an hour. We had the steamed fish set meal yesterday. The fish was tasty and good size. $117 fish + another 3 dishes + rice. The food was as I remember. Also menu price has stayed the same. I wonder how did they manage.
